Erasmus University Rotterdam is a highly ranked, international research university, based in the dynamic and diverse city of Rotterdam. Founded in 1913, it is currently one the biggest universities of the Netherlands with a student population of 23,000 and a research community of circa 1,400. Erasmus University Rotterdam has ten schools in which education and research is being conducted. The Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management (ESHPM) is leading in the fields of policy and organisational sciences with a focus on health care, health economics, medical technology assessment, social medical sciences, public administration, health law and health insurance. The programme on Health Economics and HTA has achieved a leading European position. ESHPM is involved in 16 EU-projects in the Horizon 2020 – research and innovation framework programme and was beneficiary in nine studies for the 7th research framework programme. Herewith, ESHPM has the largest number of EU-Projects at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

ESHPM offers a bachelor programme, four master programmes and post-academic education. Cooperatively, ESHPM also offers several post-academic educational programmes and courses for graduated master students. At ESHPM, research and educational activities are closely intertwined. The multidisciplinary approach to education and research is unique. Internationalisation is highly valued at ESHPM.

Maureen Rutten-van Mölken is professor of economic evaluations of innovative health care for chronic diseases at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management and scientific director of the Institute for Medical Technology of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She holds an MSc in health sciences and a PhD in health economics, both from the University of Maastricht. Maureen’s expertise includes economic evaluations alongside clinical trials as well as probabilistic decision analytic modelling. She teaches “HTA” and “Pharmaceutical Pricing and Market Access” in the Masters program Health Economics Policy and Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is coordinating the Horizon2020 project SELFIE on integrated care for people with multi-morbidity, where one of the aims is to develop payment models that incentivise collaboration between professionals.
